The BSCI is a non-profit organisation with its headquarters in Brussels. It was launched in 2002 in response to the increasing business demand for social compliance in the global supply chain. An overview of the BSCI background can be found under "Why the BSCI exists".
We unite over 600 companies around one common Code of Conduct and support them in their efforts towards building an ethical supply chain by providing them with a step-by-step development-oriented system, applicable to all sectors and all sourcing countries.
Our goal can only be achieved through a strong commitment from members to implement the system. Our work is based on several "principles" which provide and demand from our members, our principles ensure a strong, credible and achievable commitment from both parties which will ultimately help us achieve our goal.
We are open to all retail, brand and importing companies committed to improving working conditions in the global supply chain. Find out more information on our membership under "Join Us".
The BSCI is a participatory platform of businesses where all members are invited to play an active role to further develop the BSCI system and its services. More information on how the BSCI is governed and how members contribute to this is available under "Governance".
